Located amidst the rolling countryside of central Scotland, yet only three miles from the 'Fair City' of Perth, Murrayshall Country Estate provides a magnificent venue for a luxurious Scottish Golf Break. With gardens laid out across three hundred and sixty-five acres, the estate features two parkland courses. Murrayshall Course is a challenging eighteen hole championship layout, set within picturesque surroundings, while the Lynedoch Course, consisting of ten holes, and situated within an equally beautiful environment, commands magnificent views of Perthshire. Murrrayshall offers excellent practice and teaching facilities, which are open to visitors.
History: Murrayshall Country Estate is situated in close proximity to Moot Hill, which lies within the grounds of Scone Palace. This historically important site was where the Kings of Scots were once crowned, while sitting on The Stone of Destiny. Murrayshall, dates back over four hundred years and was the home of famous war hero, Lord Lynedoch. The Lynedoch Course takes its name from this gentleman.
Murrayshall Course: With large pine trees lining the impeccably conditioned fairways, a number of water hazards situated on the course and beautifully maintained greens, after extensive modernisation, the layout of Murrayshall Course has the feel of an American parkland track. However, with stunning panoramic views of the Perthshire countryside, there is little doubt that you are in the heart of Scotland. Meandering its way through the countryside estate, the course offers a serious challenge in a wonderful setting, and unusually boasts of having six par 5 holes on the card. Murrayshall Course is an eighteen hole, par 73 (men), par 71 (women), track. It has tees ranging from 5,045 to 6,120 yards.
SGB Signature Hole: Name: Dogs Grave. Number: Hole 7. Measuring 298 yards (W) and 356 yards (M) from the tee, this par 4 hole is a fantastic left to right dog-leg. Teeing off down a tight tree-lined corridor, the ideal shot is to place your drive to the right side of the tree sitting in the centre of the fairway, cutting down the distance required for the second shot. Out of bounds awaits the golfer who has been overly brave, and strayed too far right from this line. For the approach shot, the long, but narrow and slightly elevated green is guarded by a burn to the front, and trees to both sides and the rear. This is a brilliant hole and it is always great fun to play.
Lynedoch Course: Set amongst the tall Scots pines, The Lynedoch Course is a ten hole parkland layout. Shorter, but just as challenging as the Murrayshall Course, the Lynedoch features slightly narrower fairways, that are equally as well conditioned as those on the other course. Commanding views across Perthshire are afforded from the Lyndedoch Course and many are truly magnificent. The course is ideal for golfers seeking a quick game of golf over ten holes, or, as many players do, each hole, with the exception of the first and tenth, can be played twice, to create an eighteen hole experience. If playing eighteen holes, The Lyndeoch Course is a par 68/69 (men), par 69 (women), track. It has tees ranging from 4,503 to 5,279 yards.
