History: For a brief history of Moor Allerton Golf Club watch the video above, narrated by golfing great Peter Alliss.
The Course @ Moor Allerton: Prolific golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Senior laid out twenty-seven parkland holes, in three distinct loops of nine, on 220 acres of undulating Yorkshire countryside at Moor Allerton. This is the only course designed by Jones in England and indeed Britain. It has large contoured greens, sizeable teeing areas, boldly shaped bunkers and a number of water hazards. Having twenty-seven holes designed as three distinct loops of nine provides the perfect formula to maximize the amount of golf you can play and ensure you never struggle to get a tee time. The first tees on each loop start at the clubhouse, with each ninth green also finishing at the clubhouse. The three loops of nine (Lakes: holes 1-9, Blackmoor: holes 10-18, High: holes 19-27) combine to create a number of eighteen hole combinations. Quite simply, members and visitors to Moor Allerton Golf Club enjoy a greater variety of golf than those playing at a traditional eighteen hole course. Moor Allerton Golf Club is home to twenty-seven holes. Depending on the combinations played, it is a par 71/72 for men & par 73/74 for women. It has tees ranging from 5,429 to 6,841 yards.
SGB Signature Hole: Number: Hole 17 (Blackmoor Loop). Measuring 168 yards (M) and 132 yards (W) this mid length par 3 is a majestic hole, played over water. From the tee, only a well struck mid-iron shot will find the green, with sand featuring on all sides, and the biggest bunker on the course protecting the full front and right side of the putting surface. Once safely on the green, its subtle slopes run from back to front, ensuring there are no easy putts. If offered, we’d take a three every day on this hole and move on feeling good about the world. A wonderful hole on a great stretch of the course.
